Review Keynote Speeches

“The 8th Global Technology Leadership & Instructional Technology Summit and Cross-Strait Education Competitiveness Forum" will be held at Sunworld Dynasty Hotel Taipei. Looking back the past eight years, every step has not been easy. We are grateful that every year there were always over 100 Smarter Education experts from all over the world to come and contribute their own valuable experiences with us. Together, we will build an advanced stage for smarter education and share each other’s pride and achievements. We will also bear witness to the flourish and achievements of smarter education around the world.

The theme of this year's conference is “AI Smarter School and Smarter Post-Lesson Discussion.” In addition to inviting elite scholars from Asia-Pacific countries, we are also bringing together leading smarter technology teachers to participate in the 2019 Global TEAM Model Smarter Lecture Contest exhibition event. Furthermore, there will also be people in the leadership role from the education industry, such as Bor-Chen Kuo, Director of the Department of Information and Technology Education of the Ministry of Education, Taiwan, An-Bang Gao, Director of the Taoyuan Department of Education, and school principals and teachers of various established domestic and overseas smarter schools. From international trends to Taiwan's education policy, from theoretical foundations to practical implementations and case presentations, the content presented have both the depth and breadth of knowledge. We hope to share the most successful smart classrooms through observation, to further promote the development of global smart schools, where ultimately the concept of “smarter education ‧ global synchronization ‧ cross-strait cooperation” can be implemented.

Senior Consultant of TTLITDA

Dr. Steven Liang

Dr. Steven Liang once taught at the Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of University of Taipei, and went on to obtained a Ph.D. in information engineering from the National Central University. Currently, he is working as a consultant for the Taiwan Technology Leadership and Instructional Technology Development Association. Dr. Liang has conducted in-depth study on one-to-one digital teaching, team based learning (TBL), Internet learning, and integration of IT and educational teaching. He has filed and received multiple software/hardware patents and is the author of several books. In recent years Dr. Liang has invested himself in the development of smart classrooms and personally implemented TBL in elementary and junior high classes.

Dean of Global TEAM Model Education Research Institute

Power Wu

The founder of Habook Group and creator of the TEAM Model AI Smarter Classroom brand and support system. It has been marketed worldwide and promotes innovative educational technology.

He established the Global TEAM Model Education Research Institute. By using artificial intelligence (AI) and big data in education, the aim is to establish a global smarter education research platform where it links up more than ten countries and regions around the world to form a systematic, large-scale, and normalized innovation application of smarter education. It is a platform where they collect, analyze, research and share the TEAM Model based Sokrates channel, promotes teachers professional development and focuses on the collaboration and development of international education.

Director of TTLITDA

Dr. Chang I-Hua

Dr. Chang received a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy analysis and a master's degree in Information Science and Learning Technology from UM-Columbia. Currently, he is a full-time professor in the Department of Education at National Chengchi University. His main fields of study are school technology leadership and management, smart education principles and implementation, smart classroom and innovative teaching, principal and data-oriented decision-making, and teacher academic optimism and its effects. Dr. Chang is the author of the book School Technology Leadership and Management, and over 100 of his theses and research papers have been published by domestic and international journals (including SSCI and TSSCI) and also presented at seminars. Dr. Chang is an active advocate of smart education. He is involved with smart teacher teaching skill enhancement workshops, TBL seminars, and the Smarter Classroom Innovation Award and the Technology Leadership Excellence Award. These activities all cultivate and inspire smart leadership and smart teachers across the globe. To raise teaching and learning performance, Dr. Chang is working to promote the spread of smart education and the Smarter Education Movement, and to help teachers integrating technology into their teaching.

Department of Information and Technology Education, Ministry of Education, Taiwan

Director Bor-Chen Kuo

He is a graduate of Ph.D degree in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering at Purdue University, USA. He was the Dean of the College of Education at National Taichung University of Education, and served as the Discipline Coordinator of the Mathematics Education Division of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, and served as the President of the Chinese Association of Psychological Testing, and so on. Thousands of years ago, the supreme sage and teacher, Confucius, was known for teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. AI can also assist the modern teachers to teach their students in accordance with their aptitude. Bor-Chen Kuo, Director of the Department of Information and Technology Education, Ministry of Education, Taiwan, will give a lecture at the Summit Forum on the topic of “The Education Big Data Leads the Future of Education.” Using science and technology to assist the teachers will not only allow them to teach their students in accordance with their aptitude, but will also allow them to modify the tests according to students’ abilities. The aim is to break away from the geographical restrictions of the students so that they will be able to learn independently at anytime and anywhere, ultimately breaking through the resource gap between regional and urban-rural education.

Taoyuan Department of Education

Director An-Bang Kao

He holds a Ph.D. degree in Resource Economics from the University of Massachusetts, and a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Wisconsin. He served as the Dean of the Department of Social Sciences at National Chengchi University, the Chairperson of the Economics Department at National Chengchi University, the Chairperson of the Master for Eminent Public Administrators at the National Chengchi University, and the Chairperson of the Taiwan Studies Center at National Chengchi University. In the past few years, Taoyuan City Government has built more than 3,500 smart classrooms. The key successful behind this owes to the vision and efforts of the Taoyuan City Government Department of Education. We are privileged at this summit forum to invite Director An-Bang Kao of Taoyuan City Department of Education to talk about how smarter education sprouted in Taoyuan and how it successfully won First Prize in the ICF Intelligent Community Forum for Taoyuan.

黃敏麗 校長

從事小學教育30年,1998年4月~2000年7月擔任四川大學附屬實驗小學校長助理。2000年8月加盟成都師範銀都小學,參加創校工作。2010年8月~2015年6月擔任成都師範銀都小學副校長,紫薇校區執行校長。1996年~1998年教育部公派赴日本留學,作爲大阪大學、大阪教育大學的教員研修留學生進行中日數學教育的對比研究,相關論文在國際數學大會上交流;近年,與日本大阪教育大學合作開展的「網絡環境下的國際理解教育」研究,成爲教育國際化學校發展中的新生長點;2014年秋,主持「移動技術下常態互動化智慧課堂的TBL」項目,獲得臺灣科技領導與教學科技發展協會頒發的2015「全球科技領導卓越獎」。倡導「在詩意校園,做智慧教育,成爲幸福的紫藤人」。

Promoter of Middle East Smarter Education

Professor Li-Ling Huang

Professor Li-Ling Chen is currently the Principal of Chinese School in Jordan, Middle East, the Executive Director of the Amman Baccalaureate School Jordan, and the President of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Jordan. She is committed in promoting the exchanges between Jordan and Taiwan through education, trade, economy and culture and has made outstanding contributions.

Since 2005, Professor Huang has assisted in the development of TEAM Model Education in Jordan, where she has continuing cooperation with schools such as Modern Systems School, Zarqa University, American University of Madaba, Islamic Educational College, New English School and others. They cooperated together to promote the development of smart education in the Middle East region. She had arranged several professional smart education consultants to conduct teacher training activities so that the local teachers can design their own smart classroom and teaching methods.

Professor Rahul Ratna

He serves as the Regional Marketing Director for the Global Business Headquarter of the TEAM Model Education where he promotes a comprehensive solution for setting up a smart school. In 2004, he was awarded a scholarship from the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study in Taiwan and has since then obtained a Master's degree in Philosophy at National Taiwan University, and a Ph.D. degree in Philosophy at the National Central University. From 2014 to 2017, he was a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration at Nanhua University.

Jing-Yi Tseng

She graduated from National Taipei University of Education with a Master's degree in Counseling and Psychological Guidance. With 14 years of teaching experience in elementary school, she was rewarded First Prize in the 2019 4th Cross-Strait Smart Class Invitational Tournament. She has focused her expertise on the study of integrative activity learning field, cross-disciplinary innovative teaching, and innovative school administrative management. Currently, she is acting as the director of counseling, where she is committed to educate the concept of love, and hopes that through the efforts exerted by the school, they will be able to let every child be recognized.

Jing-Yi Hsu Teacher

Teacher Jing-Yi Hsu is devoted to the teaching research and development of the social studies subject. She is dedicated to the teachers’ professional learning community operation, and leads the partners in their process of professional development. Teacher Jing-Yi believes that the focus of social studies should be on enabling the students to construct their own cognitive system through reflecting, linking and reorganizing the concepts they’ve been taught and to ultimately apply them in life. In the teaching practice of the smart classroom, it involves the development of a student-oriented teaching method, guiding the students to engage in a more in-depth interaction and discussion, and to further improve learning outcomes.

Teacher Yu-Jun Lin

With nearly 20 years of experience in the teaching of mathematics, she makes good use of smart classrooms to improve teaching efficiency so that an enthusiastic and vigorous classroom learning can be carried out. In 2017, she won First Prize in the 2nd Cross-Strait Invitation Tournament for the e-learning Class. In 2019, she was selected by Parenting TW to be one of the 100 Education Innovators. Teacher Yu-Jun’s enthusiasm for teaching has greatly touched the students, the parents, and also inspired her colleagues. Her willingness to work as a workshop lecturer at various schools and departments, giving guidance related to collaborative lesson study, and sharing her experiences with other teachers, has all further exuberated a positive energy towards educational innovations.

Dana Abu Goura

Ms. Dana Abu Goura is acting as the Chief Executive of Islamic Educational College which was founded by the Islamic Cultural Society. By taking on this important position comes great responsibilities, and she is always thinking about how to provide children with better education quality. That is why when she understood the benefits that a smart classroom can bring to the children, she immediately became fully committed to the introduction of smart classrooms. She not only led the school's professional administrative team to plan and practice high-quality operating models, but also acted as a strong backup force for the students and teachers of smart classrooms. She also exerted personal influence to change traditional teaching methods and the promotion of smart classroom through events such as participation in training, seminars and exhibitions. Up to now, the school has successfully built smart classrooms on the British and American Program campuses, and is committed to complete the setup of smart classrooms throughout the entire school within three years, thus to turn Islamic Educational College into a model of smart education in the region.

Deputy Convenor of Ying Wa College STEM Education Committee

Yu Kin Chan

Teacher Chan has over 15 years of experience in teaching Information and Technology subject in Hong Kong. He studied computer engineering at university and completed a Master's degree in information technology education. He is currently the Deputy Convener of the STEM Education Committee at Ying Wa College and teaches information technology at the school too. During 2017~2019, he also served as a teacher at the Information Technology Education Centre of Excellence of the Hong Kong Education Bureau where he held a number of various types of teacher training for e-learning. There were also many training courses on the application of artificial intelligence to teaching. Teacher Chan has received various awards including the Best Teacher Award at the 2012 and 2015 Microsoft Valued Teacher, the 2016 Educator Exchange Class Hack Award and Silver at the 2017 Hong Kong University International Outstanding e-learning Awards.

Principal Han-Ting Shang

Received the 2013 Golden Award for Teaching Excellence (the highest award in education), the 2012、2013、2014 Merit Award in InnoSchool - KDP National School Management Innovation KDP International Certification Award, rewarded as an Outstanding Teacher awarded by Department of Education, Taipei City Government. He has been in the education industry for 23 years. In the beginning, it was not due to personal preference that he chose to study education. He had to give up becoming a police officer so that he could adhere to the expectations of his parents. Looking back now he realises that being with children is happiness. Working with teachers and parents is a joy. Being able to progress the process of a caring education with a child-centered starting point where he can observe the joyful expression of children learning, this has been a self-growth journey for him but is also a journey of wonder where he can witness children’s achievements.

Since commencing work in 1994, she has served as a team counselor for the Shiiazhuang Caochang Street Elementary School in Hebei Province, Principal of Shijiazhuang Foreign Language Primary School in Hebei Province, and Principal of Yung Wing Elementary School in Zhuhai. She is committed in cultivating students’ lifelong habits and abilities that will benefit their lives. She firmly believes that one should “never underestimate the ability of the students” and has led the teachers to devote themselves to the reform of education and teaching, and winning First Prize in the Innovative Education Teaching Achievements held in Hebei Province. Her life motto has always been “the essence of education is to influence the soul with soul, and to enlighten wisdom with wisdom.” She has portrayed through her actions the dreams and values of an educator: that education is harvested by giving, and life becomes beautiful by persistence!

It coincides with the 8th Global Technology Leadership and Teaching Technology Summit Forum of 2019. This invitational is hosted to provide an opportunity for teachers to display their innovative teaching models, or so called smarter models, and experiences through actual lectures in smarter classroom. With healthy competition and valuable comments from local and international experts, we hope smarter teachers would be inspired by teacher contestants and further refine their models to understand students and reach lecture objectives more efficiently and effectively.

The invitational is formed by an array of highly regarded smarter education experts from both primary and secondary schools worldwide. The team consists of one team leader, one advisor, and three smarter education experts. The taught subjects are English Language, Arts, and Sciences.

The contest adopts the "TEAM Model Smarter Education System" is the designated teaching system in the contest. All contestants are required to use the " TEAM Model Based Smarter Learning model" as the main concept to design their teaching plans and learning objectives.

  • Provide a platform for teachers to share and learn from each other and bring out the best of them during the process.
  • Promote innovative smarter models and methods to all the teachers who are or want to be a smarter teacher.
  • Generate momentum and spread influence of AI technology and smarter education
